Bye Bye Beach!

Well, I was very sad to leave the beach today. I really wanted to go golf and build things in the sand some more, but then I remembered about the slide and the pool table at Pops' house and then I couldn't wait to get home. About 45 minutes from his house, I started talking about everything I was going to do there. And I was true to my word...so true, that I skipped my nap to fit everything in! Harrison and I played pool (with a few variations to the rules -- i.e. you can sit on the table and hoard the balls in my version...and mom's rules involve no pool sticks so we just roll them into the pockets!). Then it was time to go down the slide a few times. Harrison tried out my old walker that was in the basement closet. He's almost ready for it (but as you can see in the picture, it helps to have it "stuck" so that it can't roll yet. He's not really all that steady yet). I sat down and read my counting book with Aunt Gina (Gams' daughter)...see how I'm holding up my three fingers? We rearranged the bedrooms a little to make room for Gina and her brother Anthony, so my toddler bed is now in Mommy's room. I'm very excited to know that Mommy is going night night in the bed next to mine. Should be interesting to see how the morning goes! Tomorrow is sadly our last day here, but luckily we don't leave until late on Sunday. I'm going to miss all the constant entertainment around here!

Yee Haw and a Hole in One!

Apparently, you can take me out of Oklahoma, but I'm not sure you're going to get Oklahoma out of me! Usually I refuse to wear hats, but this cowgirl one has quickly become a favorite (although I usually wear it sideways, so it looks a bit more like a pirate hat!). Turns out Harrison is a big fan of the hat as well. While I was napping today, Amy got a few pictures of him trying it on!

After naptime, we took a walk down to one of the miniature golf places and Pops taught me a few things to improve my golf game. He obviously is a really good coach, because I got my first hole in one! Harrison apparently has a ways to go on his lessons....he thought the golf club was some sort of teething apparatus. He played spectator for the afternoon and Mom helped him work on his golf clap...

Tomorrow we say goodbye to the beach and head back to Pops' house. We'll get to spend a few more days with Bobby and Abbey and then it's time to pack up and head home (apparently it has rained for about 20 straight days back home, so we're pretty happy that we've been out here to miss all that!). Mom isn't looking forward to packing....or to letting go of all the help...but we are looking forward to seeing our friends again! (oh, yeah, and the dogs too!).

Argh!

It turns out that I make a mighty good pirate! Mom thought the pirate ship adventure looked like a fun thing to do and something that I might enjoy --- I LOVED IT! I even liked wearing the eye patch, which Mommy thought wouldn't last long....I wore it for the whole boat ride and the whole ride home in the car! We got our faces painted (I got a starfish on my cheek and a shark on my arm) and then we set sail to search for treasure...

We called to King Neptune to bring us a treasure map (see below) and when we rolled it out, I climbed right on and sat on top of it -- made it momentarily tricky to find where X marked the spot because I was sitting on the X! After I moved, we got back to work. We were also having a secret powwow all huddled together and I chose this moment to announce that "I see a plane!!!" so all heads turned toward the sky and away from the discussion at hand. Oops.

We spotted another pirate at sea and had a water cannon battle to fight for the treasure and then we found the treasure chest and I picked out lots of jewels and a few other toys...

After finding the treasure, we celebrated by drinking pirate's grog and doing the limbo! It was a fantastic day (and Mommy just enjoyed being out on a boat even if it was a pirate ship!)

Not sure how we can top this day. But I'm looking forward to tomorrow because Mommy told me it is America's birthday and I love birthdays!

The Beach

We made it to the beach this morning and had a blast. I, however, was not as excited about the ocean. It got me once when a big wave came ashore and splashed me all the way up my legs. After that, I wanted the ocean to stay far away. So we made our way up a bit into the sand and started playing. Harrison and I both loved to shovel and build sand castles. Harrison also liked trying to eat the sand! I was happy to point out every single airplane that flew by (and there were lots of them!). Stay tuned for a second blog later today. Harrison is staying home with Scott and Amy this afternoon and Mommy and I are going on a pirate ship!

No beach today

We didn't make it onto the sand again today. Uncle Scott had to go back to DC for a meeting, so we decided to postpone it for tomorrow when he was back to see baby Abbey's first time at the beach. Instead, we colored pictures, played in the pool outside and walked down to Candy Kitchen -- I had a lot of fun picking out candy and found the biggest lollipop in the store.

Mommy probably agreed to this much sugar because she knew that Pops and Gams were in charge of me tonight! She and Amy and Scott went out to dinner and left us three kids with them. Here's a picture of them when they were done watching us!

Tomorrow they promise we're going to build sand castles...at least that's what they told me when they got me to stay in bed! Keep your fingers crossed for me!

Harrison is 10 Months Old!

None of our attempts to take pictures involving the number 10 worked out today, but we did take lots of pictures of Harrison today to commemorate his 10 month birthday.

This morning, Harrison seemed to be taking an active interest in baby Abbey, which everyone thought was cute, but once he climbed up to her papa san chair, we realized he was momentarily enamored by her, but mostly interested in the toys hanging from the bar over her chair!

Harrison woke Mommy up very early this morning, so once Pops and Gams got upstairs, they let Mommy go rest and they kept me busy making animals out of playdoh (these are the playdoh easter eggs that mommy's friend Amy gave me the last time I was home....we're still having easter egg hunts in July!!! I go hide eggs...close eyes....no peeking!!)

After our naps, we put a tiny baby pool out on one of the decks and splashed around for a little while. Harrison remains wary of the pool whenever I am in it! Maybe tomorrow we'll actually make it down to the beach!
