Master of the Wii

We got Daddy a Wii for Father's Day and I have quickly become the champion in most of the games! I can even beat Mommy & Daddy in bowling --- even when they're trying to win! I just recently discovered the Boxing game and again, to Mommy & Daddy's astonishment, I seem to effortlessly excel. My first day playing, I managed to KNOCK OUT all four of my opponents. I look pretty cute while I'm doing it and Mom & Dad find it very entertaining to watch, so they thought they'd share a small clip with you...

Candy!

Well, after all the parades we got to be a part of last year with Daddy's Senate campaign, we were starting to go through a little bit of withdrawal this year. Luckily, one of the neighboring towns had their 125th celebration this year and we headed over to watch the parade. Harrison and I still have our parade wave down pretty good and as a result, we ended up each with a bucket full of candy from all the floats. So fun! Harrison got so excited with all the fire trucks and tractors that went by. He loved it!
And when we got home, we went down to the park for the annual car show in Gettysburg and had a great time walking around looking at all the old cars. It was definitely a perfect day in Harrison's book!

Sunday, we spent the day with Grandma and PaPa -- we managed to do everything in one day....lots of playing, a visit to PaPa's new shed to water our pumpkin patch, down to the farm to check on the corn, a trip to the fireworks stand (and we even got to light some....but Harrison wouldn't let us light the truck ones on fire!), a few movies, and then we spent the night for a sleepover! Meanwhile Mommy and Daddy worked on painting the room that Harrison and I are going to share when the twins come and then went out for a really nice dinner for their anniversary. It was a great weekend. Thank you Grandma and PaPa!!!!

Alright, alright, alright

Mom is finally giving in to all the requests from you people who want to watch with amazement as her tummy grows to unbelievable size. So here goes....20 weeks:

It's the End of the World As We Know It

Okay, so we know that it's impossible to look at and make sense of ultrasound pictures, so we took the liberty of labeling two parts of the picture below. Study the photo and prepare yourself for a quiz:
What is happening in this picture?
a) this baby has a foot growing out of it's head
b) this baby has already mastered the yoga pose of a forward bend and is bent in half
c) one baby is kicking THE OTHER baby in the head.

The correct answer is.......C! Yep, at 20 weeks along, we got the very very very surprising news that there are TWO BABIES IN MOMMY'S TUMMY!!!!! Now, this wasn't surprising to me, as I have been asking Mommy all along "what if there were two babies in your belly?" I actually had the nerve in the ultrasound room to turn to Daddy and say "I was right!" My biggest concern right now is that we only have one bottle. Mom and Dad seem worried about a whole list of things, but both of them are a bit too stunned to even talk right now. Once I get them settled down, I'm sure we'll get back to posting on our blog and we'll let you know how things are going. The good news is that the doctor said THE TWINS look excellent and he's not worried about mom at all -- although he did notice she was in a bit of a state of shock and decided to keep most conversation for her next appointment.

Wish us all luck! As for me, I'm thrilled! And, to answer your question, no....they did not find out the sex of the babies...

Road Trip 2009

We are successfully home from our trip to visit Nona and Stacey in Boulder, CO. We had a really good trip and enjoyed getting to see Jen, Kevin and Bobby while we were there! Harrison and I were superstars on the car ride -- a 10 hour trip and we only had to stop ONCE!!! Mom was delighted to say the least.

Mom got her "city fix" the first day and made the necessary stops at the mall and Target and then we got to enjoy the scenery and surrounding area. Nona's house is right near a park and we walked there every morning to play next to surrounding foothills with paragliders coming down the mountain as we played. What a perfect setting!
Mommy's best friend Tessa lives in Denver and she came up one rainy day and they took all of us kids bowling for the afternoon. I've been perfecting my skills on the Wii, so Mom was a bit nervous that I might be frustrated by "real" bowling, but I loved it -- and you'll see I'm quite strong as I actually launched the bowling ball down the lane a few times!
And Mom and Tessa were thrilled to see that Asher and I still love each other and Harrison and Nadia seem to be taking a liking to one another too now -- the betrothal may work out after all!
We spent one day taking a gorgeous drive through the mountains up to Estes Park. Once we got there we had a yummy BBQ lunch and then rode a tram up to the top of a mountain where we found some really cute chipmunks to feed. They were pretty bold animals and would just walk right up to you looking for food -- this didn't work out very well for the poor little soul who came sauntering up to Harrison. He was not interested in feeding them anymore and said "no, chickamunk, not over here" and proceeded to give the poor thing a gentle kick with his shoe...oops.
We headed down to Denver to pick up Aunt Jen, Uncle Kevin and Bobby from the airport and spent the day before they arrived with Tessa at her house enjoying popsicles and our great friends...
We were sad to only have a day and a half overlap with Jen, Kevin and Bobby, but we made the most of it and had so much fun visiting with them. We took them to the park that morning and ran off some energy...
and then took another gorgeous drive (despite the rain) up through the mountains to eat at yummy pizza place called Beau Jo's. Mom didn't manage to take any pictures up there -- managing three kids was definitely a handful, but it was a blast and we just wish we had more time to spend with them. We headed back on Monday and had another super easy drive and were so happy to get home to daddy.

Stay tuned for pictures later today or tomorrow.....today is a pretty exciting day. We are all going along to Mommy's doctor's appointment to see the baby!!!! I keep asking Mommy what she would do if there were two babies in there -- she keeps telling me to bite my tongue....not sure why!

Water, Water, Everywhere

Our friend Jessica recently took some pictures of a great storm down in Oklahoma, so when the clouds moved it around here the other night, Mom copied her great idea and headed out with the camera. As predicted, Mom and Dad e-mailed the pictures to Aunt Amy and she was on the phone to us in minutes! She sure loves stormwatching!
You can see in the picture above that we finished the outside of the playhouse, but here's a close up picture of it as well. Daddy really did a fantastic job! We love it!
Aunt Christie came to town this weekend to visit and we had such a fun time taking the boat out again (on a much nicer day too! Plus it was Jenna's big 14th birthday -- out here in South Dakota that means she gets to start driving!!!! Happy Birthday Jenna! We're so glad you came with us!). Even Christie's doggie Bo got to ride along! I'm pretty sure we could get a picture of Harrison and PaPa like this everytime we go boating....he just loves being on the boat and he just loves being with PaPa!
Saturday was supposed to be opening day at the swimming pool, but they postponed it until Sunday. Of course, we didn't find this out until after getting geared up and in our swimsuits and sunscreen. So we went with Plan B and pulled out the sprinkler when we got home and had a blast! I had the ingenious idea of pulling out my umbrella to keep from getting wet --- except Daddy kept foiling my plan and spraying the jets of water up into the umbrella -- what a silly guy!
Sunday, the pool opened up as promised. Harrison and I both jumped right in (much to Mom's dismay because she thought the water was FREEZING!). Luckily, our friend Avery was there to help us swim around too!


It was a perfect and fun-filled weekend. This week is Vacation Bible School. It's only Monday night and Mom is exhausted from organizing everything. Guess it didn't help that she had a sick little 4 year old on her hands today, but we managed to get through it and are hoping the week gets a little easier as we go along! We're keeping our sights set on our trip to Colorado to see Nona and Stacey next week -- we can't wait to see them and to see Jen, Kevin and Bobby too!
