Trying New Foods....

Madison gave us a pretty clear hint the other day that she might be interested in eating something other than a bottle. She grabbed onto Daddy's bowl with both hands and was not about to let go without a fight. She did eventually free her hands....only because she was then reaching for his Diet Coke can!So we broke out the rice cereal, spoons, bowls, bumbo seats and a very helpful big sister (that's me!) and gave it a go...

As you can see, Kennedy and I were both thrilled with this new adventure:

We love how closely Kennedy is tracking this spoon as it goes into her sister's mouth!

I got extra brave and tried to feed both girls at the same time:

I'm not sure you can see in this group photo just how messy this experiment turned out to be, but Madison and Kennedy were both very happy girls!

Harrison got brave and decided to eat some mashed potatoes (an old favorite of his that he had recently decided he didn't like). He gave them a second chance and didn't bother for a plate or his own spoon and went straight for Mommy's stirring spoon....he obviously likes them again....

Me, on the other hand.....I have never liked them and I'm pretty certain I still won't....
You would think they were feeding me liver.....the way I acted, it sure tasted the same!
Daddy snapped this shot of Harrison trying out the new Chocolate Cheerios one morning....once again, he didn't bother with a bowl or spoon of his own....

It's hard to believe that 3 weeks have passed since the last time we posted anything on our blog....things have certainly picked up speed around here and Mom & Dad are finding it harder to get anything accomplished other than taking care of their four kiddos. Luckily, they seem pretty happy to spend time with us!

The biggest news is that my cousin Abbey (and Aunt Amy along with baby-to-be) are coming tomorrow to visit for an entire week! We have been counting down the days (literally, we made a countdown calendar!) and cannot wait to see them walk off that plane tomorrow! Hopefully we'll manage to take, post and share a few pictures of our visit!

Baked Goods and Baby Talk

Harrison was reading a magazine yesterday and I yelled for him to stop turning pages when he got to a recipe for rainbow cupcakes -- they looked so fun and neat and we begged mom to let us make them. So, while I was at school today she got what we needed from the store and we embarked on this adventure this afternoon. It's a bit like her feelings for pumpkin carving and gingerbread houses: they sound fun in theory.....and then they take a bit more time and make a bit more mess than you thought they might....but in the end you are glad you did it and love the final product. Harrison left us girls to the actual measuring, mixing and "work" part of the process....but was happy to come watch the cupcakes grow in the oven and of course to help taste the masterpieces!

Meanwhile, Madison and Kennedy are starting to learn how to share their toys. They both got a hold of the same little crinkly book yesterday. Thankfully they are still young enough to not notice or fight about it...
Mom just loves this picture of their little hands intertwined and Kennedy watching Madison as she takes it away from her....
For those of you wanting to see the babies in action....we took a few short videos. Both girls are talking up a storm these days....Kennedy was doing a few vocal exercises that we caught on film. Madison was a bit more intrigued with her lower lip....nothing fancy and no editing....enjoy anyway:

Daddy comes home tomorrow night and then we just have one more full week of the legislative session (assuming, that is, that they can agree on one teeny, tiny last piece of business....the budget!)
