Harrison decided to sleep in for his birthday which made it possible for Mom & Dad & me to get the house ready for his party. When he finally decided to wake up (at 9:45!), we all ran into his room with a portable speaker blasting the ND fight song. Fortunately, he seemed to enjoy this greeting and the day was off to a great start. Everyone came over for his party at 11 and we had burgers, hot dogs, cake and ice cream, a pinata and presents! I was happy to greet everyone at the door saying "Happy Birthday to you!" and telling them there was cake here...then I showed them where they could go to get a ND face tattoo like mine. There were 15 other kids plus their parents here, so we had a great crowd and a lot of fun. Harrison cried when it came time for cake but that was actually in protest to having been set down in his highchair. Once he got a taste of the cake, he was perfectly happy...but he never did just tear right into it. He got a lot of great gifts and I was an excellent helper at getting them all unwrapped in warp speed! We both took really good naps afterwards and woke up to watch the rest of the disappointing Notre Dame game (hey, at least we aren't Michigan fans though!). It was a great day and Harrison is very very happy to be one year old!
FYI...you may notice the icing on the cake has a small mark in it that looks a lot like what would happen if a 2 year old jabbed her spoon into it before Dad & Mom could stop her! Harrison got his own little cake that was shaped like a Notre Dame football helmet...
